Biography

Prof. Samir Iqbal is with the Department of Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. He independently directs Nano-Bio Lab as part of the Nano-Bio Cluster.  He received his Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi, Pakistan, and earned his Ph.D. from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana in 2007.  He worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Discovery Park of Purdue University before joining University of Arlington.  In 2009, he got NSF CAREER award. He is a senior member of IEEE-USA, a member of Biomedical Engineering Society, American Physical Society, American Society of Mechanical Engineers and Biophysical Society.  He also serves on the Graduate Studies Committee of the joint Bioengineering Program of University of Texas At Arlington and University of Texas Medical Center at Dallas.  In 2011, he was chosen as Recognized Professor by Phi Kappa Phi.  In 2013, Tau Beta Pi inducted him as an Eminent Engineer and UT-Arlington selected him for the Honorable Mention towards Best Academic Advisor 2012-13 Award.  He was also 2013 College of Engineering nominee for UT-Arlington President's Award for Excellence in Teaching.
