The UT Arlington Research Institute (UTARI) is a research and development unit of The University of Texas at Arlington specializing in applying cutting-edge technologies to real-world engineering problems.
UTARI welcomes outside researchers and industry leaders to use our equipment and tap our expertise. We also frequently host symposiums, consortia, and events to bring together our partners to focus on specific issues.
"[A]fter more than 30 years of research, robots are to the point where they are safe enough to be around people, [and] robust enough to complete some tasks of interest that will be useful to the average person" -Dan Popa
Dr. Frank Lewis of UTA and UTARI and collaborators has developed the Integral Reinforcement Learning, which is a process by which a device learns and makes control decisions in reaction to a set of variables that changes based on each previous decision.
