Dr. Frank Lewis was the recipient of the 2013 Neural Networks Pioneer Award, which recognizes significant contributions to early concepts and sustained development in the field of neural networks. The award recognizes two types of pioneering contributions: Fundamental understanding and engineering application. In addition to receiving a plaque and honorarium, Dr. Lewis was invited to give a keynote plenary talk on "Neural Network Reinforcement Learning Structrures for Real-Time Optimal Feedback Control and Games" at the 2013 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks.
