What is WebCT?

WebCT is a Learning Management System licensed by UTA for faculty members to communicate electronically with students. It may be used as a mechanism to deliver supplemental materials and/or for delivery of instruction in distance learning courses. There are many WebCT features that you as the instructor may choose to use, some of which include:

  • Email, Discussion Groups and CHAT (all self-contained for each class)
  • Calendar
  • Assignments
  • Grade Book
  • Online Quizzes, Self-Quizzes and Surveys
  • Group Projects
  • Online Lectures
  • Course Notes
  • External Resources

WebCT allows you to monitor student participation in discussion forums, automatically grade quizzes and enables documentation of course activities.

Need a WebCT class?

There are two options available for faculty to request a WebCT class. New Course is for a new course based on a blank template. Course Copy will request a course based on a copy of an existing course. All students, emails, and discussion posts from the original class will be removed, but the structure and content of the class will be preserved. To request a course copy, log into WebCT and copy the id number of the course you want copied before filling out the request form. The course id number is usually 15 characters long, and follows this format: aabb1101001fa06.
