Is Distance Education for Me?

The term Distance Education includes many different types of technology-delivered education. To be considered a distance education course, at least 51% of course content must be delivered through technology-based formats. The technology can be Web delivery with WebCT or Blackboard, video conferencing of class sessions with faculty and students, or recorded videos of lectures.

These courses are as rigorous as classroom-based courses. However, in addition to meeting the same academic requirements, taking an online course requires basic computer literacy, motivation, and self-discipline. If you’re thinking about taking a distance education course, consider your learning style and computer literacy and take a moment to complete the questionnaire Is Distance Education for Me?.
