WebCT Log In Help for Students
I entered my NetID and Password, but I can’t log in. What’s wrong?
If you can’t log in and are certain you’ve typed your information correctly, then your password may have expired. Use NetID Self Service to update your password.
What is my NetID?
UT Arlington provides a computer account referred to as a “NetID.” The NetID gives you access to WebCT and other computing resources.
Before you can use any network resources—including MavMail and WebCT—you must activate your NetID and change the default password.

What makes up a NetID?
Your NetID is created from the initials of your first, middle, and last names followed by the last four digits of your UTA ID number.
Example:
Name: Mary J. Jane
UTA ID: 1000-12-1234
NetID: mjj1234
For students admitted prior to Summer 2006, the UTA ID number was usually your SSN unless you requested or were given a generic ID number.
Example:
Name: John Q. Public
Social Security Number: 123-45-6789
NetID: jqp6789
If the Admissions Office did not include your middle name when entering your data, an ‘x’ will be used in place of your middle initial.
Example:
Name: Morgan Smith
Social Security Number: 987-65-4321
NetID: mxs4321
What is my NetID password?
For students admitted for Summer 2006 or later:
You should have been given a temporary randomized password by the Admissions Office in an e-mail (if a you provided an e-mail address) or via postal mail. Before you can use your account, you need to activate it using NetID Self Service. If you have not received your temporary password from the Admissions Office, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@uta.edu or 817-272-2208.
For students admitted prior to Summer 2006:
The default password uses the two-digit month, day, and year of your birthday followed by the first two digits of your UTA ID number at the time you first enrolled at UT Arlington (usually the SSN unless you specified to have or were given a generic ID number): mmddyynn
I can log in to WebCT, but my course is not listed.
If you registered late, you might not have been added to your online course yet. There is a 24 hour time lag in data transfer from the time you register and pay in the MyMav registration system to the time your name is transferred to WebCT. You can either wait a day or e-mail support@distance.uta.edu with your name and NetID, plus the name, number, section number and instructor name of the missing course(s). (For example: John Doe - jd0000; ENGL 1010.001 Smith, J.) Someone will help you as quickly as possible.
I can’t remember my NetID password. What can I do?
If you have previously set up account management questions, you can use NetID Self Service to change your forgotten password. If you have not set up account management questions, or you forgot your answers, you will need to contact the Help Desk in the Central Library. You must bring a photo ID with you or send it by fax (817-272-2063) or e-mail (helpdesk@uta.edu).
