Virtually There! Going Green with Online Meetings

What is Web Conferencing?
Webex, the web conferencing software supported by UT Arlington, allows you to meet with small or large groups (up to 100.) Web conferencing is gaining popularity for green efforts in education and industry. The features it offers are:
- Voice Over the Internet (VOIP – speak through a microphone over your computer; telephone optional and charges apply, but not this time if you prefer the phone.)
- Make Presentations (while speaking)
- Share Desktop (yours or another’s with everyone)
- Browse the Web
- Whiteboard
- See Fellow Attendees (via desktop webcams)
- Poll Attendees (take votes or gather opinions with immediate results)
- Text CHAT (if you want to message one, several, or the whole group; also if you have no mic or phone)

- How to lead meetings through web conferencing
- Other electronic meeting options (audio conference, videoconference, one-on-one computer meeting)
Interested in attending? Choose your method of audio attendance and plan to attend the preliminary test session on October 19 at noon to verify your connectivity. You want to confirm in advance that you will hear the presenter and speak to him and/or others while seeing the presentation from your computer or you will miss out on half the fun!
Audio Attendance Option A: User your desktop telephone or conference room speaker telephone via a toll free number. More than one person can observe at one computer with this method (can hear what’s being said via speaker phone and watch the computer as another person participates.)
or
Audio Attendance Option B: VOIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol ) sends your voice over the internet through a microphone connected to your personal computer while you watch and interact with others online.
Must have:
“non-USB” headset with microphone connection to your computer. These are available at the Computer Store in Ransom Hall for approximately $10. If you already have a USB headset connection, please attend via Option 1.

Please register by October 15 and be sure to download and read/try out the tip sheet before both sessions (rehearsal and education sessions.) Here's how to register:

**If you were unable to attend the preliminary setup session, please download the tip sheet below, follow instructions for software prep, and connect by 11:30 a.m. to test your audio connection (telephone or microphone.)**
