*Important* Please be advised that your Net ID and password are case sensitive.

Login into WebCT using your UTA NetID and corresponding NetID Password. WebCT IDs and NetIDs will be identical, and both will share the same password. When you change your NetID password, your WebCT password will automatically change with it.Please read the following Q&A for details:

Q:  What is my WebCT ID and NetID?

A:  fml#### Your NetID will be your first, middle, and last initial followed by the last four digits of your UTA ID number at the time you first enrolled at UT Arlington.

For students admitted prior to Summer 2006, the UTA ID number was usually the SSN unless you requested or were given a generic ID number.

For students admitted for Summer 2006 or later, the UTA ID number will be a randomized number generated when you applied to the University. Please note, your NetID is permanent and will not change while you are a UT Arlington student. Thus, your WebCT ID which is the same, will not change either.

Example 1:
Name:  John Q. Public (was admitted prior to Summer 2006)
Social Security Number:  298-47-0938
NetID would be: jqp0938

Example 2:
Name:  Mary J. Jane (was admitted for Summer 2006)
UTA ID:  1000-12-1234
NetID would be: mjj1234

If the Admissions Office did not include your middle name when entering your data, an 'x' will be used in place of your middle initial.

Q:  What is the password for my NetID and WebCT?

A:  For students admitted prior to Summer 2006:
Password: mmddyynn - the default password will be the two-digit month, day, and year of your birthday followed by the first two digits of your UTA ID number at the time you first enrolled at UT Arlington (usually the SSN unless you specified to have or were given a generic ID number).

Before you can use any network resources including UTA MavMail e-mail and WebCT, you must change the default password. The easiest way to change your password is through logging to your MavMail e-mail account at http://owa.uta.edu. You will be prompted automatically to change your NetID password.  Additional account maintenance (manage identity, reset password, create alias) is available at http://www.uta.edu/selfservice.

Example:  John Q. Public was born on October 31st, 1924 and his social security number is 298-47-0938.  His default password would therefore be 10312429.

For students admitted for Summer 2006 or later:

You will be given a temporary randomized password by the Admission's Office in an e-mail (if an email address was provided by you) or via postal mail. Before you can use your account, you will need to activate it through http://www.uta.edu/selfservice.  If you have not received your temporary password through the Admissions Office, please contact the Help Desk at helpdesk@uta.edu or (817)272-2208.

Q:  I can't remember my NetID/WebCT password.  What can I do? 

A:  There are 2 ways you can change your password:

• If you have previously setup account management questions, you can use NetID self-service page to change your forgotten password.
• If you have not setup account management questions or you forgot your answers, you will need to contact Help Desk to change your password.  Help Desk is required to see a photo ID, so you will need to either come in person or send us your photo ID by fax (817-272-2063) or e-mail (helpdesk@uta.edu).
