Computer Configuration


Enable Java Virtual Machine: You will need to have the Sun Microsystems Java Virtual Machine ("JVM") software version 1.4.1 (1.4.2 or higher recommended) software installed in your browser in order for certain areas of WebCT to function properly.

Enable Cookies: You may need to enable cookies in order to login to WebCT.

Disable Pop-Up Blocking for WebCT: While using WebCT, to view discussion postings, quiz windows, and download links, you need to disable pop-up blocking. Pop-up blockers can also hide in tool bars and firewall programs. For help with disabling specific pop-up blockers, see http://208.185.32.35/help/content/wizard/WizHelp.html#links-popups

WINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK 2

Because Windows XP Service Pack 2 has added additional security features to the Internet Explorer, WebCT users need to add the UTA WebCT url to IE's list of trusted sites. To do this, follow the instructions below.

  1. From your menu bar, select Tools >> Internet Options.
  2. Select the Security tab.
  3. In the "Select a Web content zone..." area, select Trusted sites.
  4. Click on the Sites... button.
  5. Type in http://webct.uta.edu into the top text field.
  6. Uncheck the "Require server verification..." box.
  7. Click the Add button.
  8. Click OK.
  9. Click OK again.
