UTA students win two awards at 2019 IES Dallas Student Lighting Design Competition

Four UTA interior design students received two awards in the 2019 Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) Dallas Student Lighting Design Competition. The award winners were announced on August 30, 2019. Student team Bich Tuyen & Erica Vallejo placed 2nd place and received a $1,500 scholarship for their "Lay Spa" project. Student team Marylee Espinoza & Aline Dolisy placed 4th place and received a $500 scholarship for their "Spa Luminosa" project.

IES created this program to encourage students to visualize a well-executed lighting design as the core of creativity, science & technology. The design challenge specifically asked students to develop a complete lighting design for an urban spa which included a canopied entry to a reception space, a mani/pedi room and a massage therapy area.
