The College of Nursing and Health Innovation will hold three virtual pinning ceremonies in order to accommodate our large number of students and to keep the ceremony enjoyable for all attendees.
Nursing students who wish to participate in their pinning ceremony (see above) must register for the ceremony. You will receive instructions for registration. If you have questions, you may contact the staff member assisting with your ceremony, listed above.
What is a Pinning Ceremony?
The Pinning Ceremony is a formal celebration traditional to the nursing profession that symbolically recognizes the candidate's entry into their professional nursing career. It is an event that is separate from the academic commencement ceremony. For our pinning ceremony, each student walks across the stage and receives a UTA Nursing Pin from someone special to them, while the student's brief thank-you message is read. At the end of our ceremony, our graduation candidates stand as a class and recite our nursing pledge. As students have expressed that this additional celebration is personally meaningful, we welcome the attendance of family and friends at this event.
