Why did you choose to attend UT Arlington?
I chose the University of Texas at Arlington because after I attended college in the Rio Grande Valley, I wanted to transfer to another school a bit farther away so I could learn more about what is out there, I had done research about UTA and discovered that it was in the top list of transfer universities, and it had an amazing teaching program. I love how my professors have always been so helpful and encouraging and have always been available in person and virtually. Currently only virtually because of the current circumstances but they have been there for me nonetheless.
What is your favorite thing about the College of Education at UT Arlington?
My favorite thing about the college of ed is that it strives to encourage more individuals to explore just how great not only this school is but how the teaching program is. Moreover, their excitement and positivity is just absolutely contagious!
Who is your favorite professor? Why?
Unfortunately there is not just one professor that is my favorite. At the top of my head I can think of three and from there I cannot choose between them. Those individuals would be Dr. Federico Garza, Dr. Fajer Jaafari and Dr. Kathleen Tice. They have been so amazing throughout my completion of this program and I could not have asked for better professors. They taught me what it is to be a good educator that will inspire one to learn not just what is part of the curriculum but to influence one to explore more about what interests me I know that of I take to heart what they have taught me and incorporate it into my classroom I could be in the path to becoming a great teacher like them.
What activities do you participate in outside of class?
I love to cook and bake, I love trying new recipes, I also love to do art and craft activities, DIY projects are my favorite where I feel creative and have fun making something myself.
What are your plans after you graduate?
I plan to stay within the Arlington district or close by and teach while I make plans to form a life together with my boyfriend. He has been my cheerleader, counselor and best friend through this all and I'm so grateful to have him in my life.
What is the one thing you think a prospective Education student needs to know?
Remember what got you interested in the first place, I have learned that as long as you always keep sight of why you began the journey, you will approach your responsibilities with passion rather than an obligation. When you find yourself confused, doubtful and discouraged answer the question as if someone was asking you "why did you want to do this in the first place?".
