College of Engineering Student Stories
Meet Typhanne
UTA opened its doors to me in 2023, and since then I can feel myself becoming the professional I wanted to be with lots of support from a team that fuels my trajectory. Before applying to UTA, I looked at research opportunities, financial assistance and the academic community, and I assure you I was spot on in my decision.
UTA checked the boxes for all these variables. I am a McNair Scholar, a prestigious program that helps students like me prepare to begin my doctoral studies. I am part of the Nanophotonics Device Group, researching semiconductors and their properties. I became a member of IEEE (one of the most important organizations in my academic area) and I am a lifetime member of one of our honor societies.
I earned financial assistance from scholarships, academic merit, and work-study jobs. You can see me around campus helping prospective and current students in my position as a Student Ambassador for the College of Engineering.
Even though UTA is a huge university with more than 40,000 students, the general feeling is of singularity. The staff helped me throughout the whole process of applying for an international college, and since I was looking for an enriched academic community, now I can say some of the best professors with incredible backgrounds know my name and cheer for my success and that of my fellow students.
Engineering is hard, but having a university that supports your trajectory can ease this journey and give you the foundation to become the next engineer. If you have the spirit to become one, let’s do it!
