If you look at how the world has evolved, there has always been a power struggle to survive, and thrive and energy is key to that.

A big part of the future of the energy industry is finding the best balance of resources. This program gives us the tools we need to work with and understand renewable and non-renewable resources to find the best balance. We will be prepared to help develop and integrate future energy systems with what exists now.

I wanted to get into nuclear engineering – I’m a nuclear engineering minor – and REE is a good path to that career. The degree is focused on a systems point of view and understanding the science behind it. I’ll be in the first graduating class for this major and I’m confident that I’m gaining the tools I need to solve problems focused on heat transfer, fluid dynamics and sustainability. People throw that word out there in a negative way, but it really is just something that has long-lasting effects that are beneficial.

The industry needs people who can forecast how the next 100 years will look and help with the transition, and I’ll be able to do that.
