The College of Engineering Student Stories

Meet Mya
I've always been around the college, and it gave me opportunities to pursue the degree I want. I love physics. I didn't know which one to pick, so I chose the most general. In high school, nothing really interested me, which often made me feel out of place. But when I took physics, something finally clicked — I realized it was what I wanted to pursue. Building projects and applying math to real-world problems helped me discover a passion I didn’t even know I had, and that ultimately led me to choose mechanical engineering as my major in college. I want to go into a project management role.
My favorite professor is Dr. Catherine Kilmain. I’ve had her for three semesters, and she genuinely cares about her students’ growth and understanding in engineering. She brings such positive energy to every class, which has helped me develop a real passion for the subjects she teaches.
