Language proficiency testing

Individuals seeking to assess their language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and/or writing, should seek testing through the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).

The department offers language proficiency assessments by qualified individuals in several languages. These are not official ACTFL tests but may serve as assessments for a variety of institutional needs (e.g. applications for foreign study). Specific fee depends on type and number of assessments requested.
