Taiyshawna Battle recently graduated from the Political Science Master’s Degree program at the University of Texas, Arlington. She attended UTA from August 2016 through May 2018.While in the Political Science MA program, she was a participant of the Allen Saxe Research Fellowship program run by Dr. Herschel Thomas under the supervision of Dr. Bai Linh Hoang.

Upon completion of her Master’s Degree in Political Science, she accepted a job as an analyst with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) in Dallas Texas. GAO is an independent, nonpartisan agency that works for Congress. Often called the "congressional watchdog," GAO examines how taxpayer dollars are spent and provides Congress and federal agencies with objective, reliable information to help the government save money and work more efficiently.

As an analyst Taiy reviews federal agency programs and operations and federal activities in all areas. Typically, an analyst works as part of a team and uses methodological, research, documenting, writing, and presenting skills.Taiy writes that “I have been able to fulfill my dream to work as a civil servant thanks to my time at UTA. I will forever be indebted to the staff of the Political Science Department and hope the best for its faculty and students.
