Openings for Field Archaeologists and Crew Chiefs

Accepting applications for a project in the Fishlake National Forest, Utah. Anticipated start April 1, 2022. Full-time, pedestrian survey, camping, historic and prehistoric sites, GPS mapping. Positions are project based, but may extend. Qualified applicants must be able to hike at least 8 miles per day in difficult terrain and varying weather with a 20-30lb pack. Minimally, a B.A./B.S. degree in Anthropology/Archaeology or a related field required. At least 6 months experience in archaeological survey preferred. HDR Archaeology Crew Chief

Archaeological Crew Chiefs are responsible for managing archaeological survey crews and site documentation, which includes feature and artifact identification and analyses; performing shovel test pits (STPs); site descriptions; photographs; and mapping. Crew Chiefs must possess the technical knowledge to supervise archaeological field technicians who are required to perform the following tasks in the field.
