Social Worker, LMSW and LCSW


Description

  • Provide short-term and crisis, individual, and group counseling for referred students or groups of students
  • Provide consultation regarding students’ psychological and behavioral issues
  • Utilize various assessment instruments and techniques to assist in identifying appropriate intervention techniques for referred students
  • Provide consultation to school personnel and parents regarding the psychological and social needs of students as they relate to the educational setting and process
  • Assist school staff members with intervention strategies and techniques regarding discipline problems
  • Provide referral information to students and families regarding in-district and out-of-district resources
  • Provide parent consultation as necessary
  • Identify problems in the home and community that may affect the student’s performance and adjustment, as well as consult with community agencies / programs and professionals regarding the need of students
  • Utilize preventive strategies to remove social / emotional barriers to academic success
  • Provide the following in schools when assigned as case facilitator, attend and participate in the Student Support Team process
  • Provide staff development activities for school personnel and parents
  • Provide crisis intervention services to schools, as necessary
  • Provide technical assistance to Director
  • Keep abreast of current and emerging professional trends and developments affecting school social work, and recommend modifications that will improve performance
  • Coordinate crisis management efforts to include crisis team training and assignments
  • Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned as it relates to Title I, Part A grant requirements
  • Preforms all other tasks and duties as assigned 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas license as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker or Licensed Masters Social Worker granted by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners
  • Two or more years of experience in providing psychological and social services within a school setting, or the equivalent in demonstrated competence, such as experience in the delivery of psychological, social services
  • Demonstrated knowledge of procedures for assessing emotional, and behavioral functioning for educational purposes
  • Demonstrated competence in consultation skills, family system intervention, crisis intervention, and the referral process
  • Demonstrated knowledge of psychosocial development
  • Demonstrated training and experience in individual and group counseling techniques as well as interpersonal and team dynamics
  • Demonstrated competence in crisis management

Community Liaison (Grade: 6-8)


Description

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge of methods and procedures for effectively involving home, school, and community in meeting the education needs of children and youth.
  • Assist in the procurement and recruitment of community resources; i.e. local businesses, corporations, and organizations.
  • Three years of documented school and/or community-based experience
  • Establish a community center within the school to be utilized by the parents, students and community

Qualifications

  • Formulate a plan to increase parent involvement.
  • Coordinate a series of parent education activities and programs in an attempt to have an understanding of adolescents.
  • Assist in the procurement and recruitment of community resources; i.e. local businesses, corporations, and organizations.
  • Establish a community center within the school to be utilized by the parents, students and community.
  • Assist in the recruitment and training of volunteers and adopters.
  • Serve as a resource for school related organizations, including Parent Teacher Association, Community Advisory Committee, Positive Parents, etc.
  • Provide technical assistance to District staff to achieve a broader understanding of the student community.
  • Work with appropriate community agencies to alleviate problems adversely affecting student attendance and learning.
  • Assist student and parent groups and conduct home visits.
  • Inform parents and students through a variety of forums including face-to-face and community meeting, and school tours.
  • Expose students to and inform parents of community activities, i.e., cultural events, the arts, political issues, etc.
  • Produce and disseminate materials and information pertaining to the school program to its various publics.
  • Establish student mentor programs with community and business volunteers.
  • Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
