The School of Social Work congratulates Michael Lummus, MSW student, on his award from the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) North Central Texas-Fort Worth Chapter.  The NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers.

Michael Lummus was recognized as Social Work Student of the Year on March 13, 2016 at the Fort Worth Chapter’s awards banquet at TCU Kelly Center. He was one of several individuals who were celebrated for their outstanding leadership, contributions to education, research and the social work profession.

Michael Lummus’ concentration of study at UTA’s School of Social Work is community and administrative practice. His professional goal following graduation is to work for an organization that creates equal and just opportunities for disenfranchised populations.

He is President-Emeritus of the Student Veterans Organization on UTA’s campus and helps the organization achieve its mission of enhancing the collegiate experience for veteran students, providing resources and networking opportunities that help student veterans be successful in their academic careers.

Michael Lummus contributes his educational and professional success to UTA’s diverse faculty, staff and student populations and their abilities to unite and create an educational environment where individuals can learn from each other, teach, and guide without fear of discrimination.

The School of Social Work is proud of Michael Lummus for his accomplishments and contributions to the school and UTA. The School of Social Work family wishes Michael Lummus much success in his present and future endeavors.
