Social Work Professor Earns Distinguished Scholar Award

Dr. Maria Scannapieco, social work professor and director of the Center for Child Welfare, has been selected as a member of UTA’s Academy of Distinguished Scholars for recognition of her outstanding scholarly achievements and contributions to UTA and the field of social work, especially on behalf of vulnerable children and families.

The mission of the Academy of Distinguished Scholars is to advocate the importance of research and creative activity, to create an appropriate reward structure for scholars, to promote a sense of community among scholars, to serve as role model, to foster research and creative activity, and to advise the institution on research policies and practices.

All members of the Academy have previously won either the Distinguished Record of Research, Creative Activity Award, the Outstanding Research Achievement or Creative Accomplishment Award.

Members of the Academy of Distinguished Scholars will be recognized at the Faculty Awards Ceremony on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at 3:45 p.m. in the U.C. Rio Grande Ballroom.
