The University of Texas at Arlington School of Social Work earned another top ranking this year for its graduate program.
The latest ranking is the 2019 Best Online Colleges for Master’s in Social Work programs from SR Education Group’s Guide To Online Schools where UTA’s School of Social Work is ranked No. 16.
SR Education Group states on their website, there are 132 accredited programs by the Council on Social Work Education offering their program online and the 2019 ranking lists the top 25 schools that “offer the best fully online MSW programs in the country.”
According to a representative of the SR Education Group, an education research publisher founded in 2004, they “analyzed accredited online schools across the nation, taking into account average mid-career salary data from PayScale, and manually researched annual tuition rates, in order to determine the schools that offer the best value to their students.”
The representative wrote in an email to UTA, “Inclusion on this list shows high return on investment and commitment to affordability, two key factors for prospective students.”
This is not the only ranking the School of Social Work received this year.
In August, BestMSWPrograms.com ranked the UTA School of Social Work No. 1 on its 2018 list of the top 50 Online MSW Programs. According to their website, the “list takes into account the following criteria: Affordability (50 percent); Breadth of Concentrations (25 percent); and School Reputation (25 percent) according to U.S. News & World Report.”
“We are very proud of the accomplishments and diligent work from our faculty, students, alumni and staff that is represented in these three national rankings,” said Scott D. Ryan, dean of the School of Social Work at the University of Texas at Arlington. “These rankings illustrate the quality and reputation of our programs, top research conducted by our faculty, and the impact our students and alumni make every day in Texas and in communities throughout the world.”
In addition to academic reputation and affordability, social work program offeringsd are consider in the rankings criteria. The School’s MSW program offers an accelerated full-time online for advanced standing students that can be completed in 12 months. The accelerated online program also offers 8-week classes.
A regular online full-time cohort program is also offered for Advanced Standing and Traditional students (non-BSW graduates) that can be completed in 16 months and 26 months, respectively.
The School offers online three MSW specialties: Aging, Children & Families, and Mental Health & Substance Abuse. These three specialties and two more, Health and Community & Administrative Practice are also offered face-to-face on the Arlington campus and in hybrid models.
At UTA Fort Worth the MSW with the Children & Families direct practice specialty is offered in the evenings in a cohort model.
“UTA and the School of Social Work is committed to affordability, convenience and providing the best return on a student’s higher education investment,” said Ryan.
