FAQ

The senate typically meets in regular session the first Wednesday of September, October, November, December, February, March, April, and May from 2:30 to 5:00 pm.  Special sessions are sometimes called between regular sessions.
Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, the senate met in the Student Government Chambers in the University Center.  During COVID-19, the senate has met virtually using MS Teams.

Each academic department has at least one tenured/tenure-track senator.  Larger departments can have two or more depending upon the number of T/TT faculty members in the department.  Currently, the largest departments have two senators.  Each college has one or more NTT track senators with larger colleges currently having two.

Given that department and college faculty rosters change from year to year, it’s appropriate to regularly reapportion the senate seats across the departments and colleges.   A reapportionment study is typically done every two years, but this does not always result in a reapportionment of seats.
