Faculty Orientation at UTA

Dear New Faculty:

We are honored to welcome you to Maverick country as a new member of our faculty. UTA's faculty is comprised of a talented group of award-winning teacher-scholars that form the core of a dynamic community committed to student success and academic excellence. UTA is taking every precaution to provide a safe learning and research environment for our students, faculty and staff as we return to classes in fall 2020.  Reflecting a strong commitment to faculty governance, a number of committees are working through processes and policy changes that may be required as a result of covid-19, https://resources.uta.edu/coronavirus/index.php

UTA is a Hispanic Serving (HSI) and a Carnegie R-1 very high research institution and our mission is focused on access and excellence. Our enrollment continues a steady ascent. UTA's fall 2018 enrollment totaled 42,496 including 28,000 undergraduates. These graduates add to the more than 200,000 UTA alumni around the globe. 

UTA's Faculty Affairs holds two faculty orientations. The Fall orientation is a two- day-long event open to ALL faculty that includes a welcome from UTA President ad interim Teik C. Lim and interim Provost Pranesh Aswath. A Spring orientation is also held for faculty.  Please see below for important information that can help ease your transition to UTA:

  • UTA ‘s Learning Management System (LMS) is Canvas. For training and other information please visit Canvas Website.
  • Syllabus Preparation. Faculty are required to use the syllabus template available in their Canvas course shell. All syllabi must be posted online by the first day of classes. The syllabus will migrate to each faculty member’s profile page in Digital Measures/Mentis.- Step-by-step instructions are available here.
  • We are offering summer trainings on Canvas, Microsoft Teams, teaching techniques, and assessment, . to prepare for fall. We welcome you to any of our trainings and encourage you to sign up for them. We have both group sessions and one on one sessions. Once you have your email and password, you are able to access these trainings by logging into https://utacrtle.org/
