Bria provides counseling for prospective first-time freshmen from the following areas:
I started working at UTA in January 2018. I recruit and counsel incoming freshman about the admissions process at UTA in Central Texas, including local areas such as Ellis, Johnson, and Hood counties. It is my job to provide high school students with the necessary information regarding UTA’s resources, academic departments, and benefits of being a Maverick.
I love being able to travel to different cities and meeting many different backgrounds and personalities. I enjoy knowing that I was a part of a student’s college search process. I love UTA’s basketball teams. It gets really fun around homecoming, and it is awesome that the College Park Center is home to the WNBA team Dallas Wings. My favorite UTA tradition is rubbing E.H. Hereford’s head in the UC for good luck.
Fun Fact: The first time I rubbed his head, I got a call about interviewing for my current position 5 minutes later—it works!
My advice for students would be take a tour of the schools they are interested in before they make their decision. Figure out the campus resources that are available to students. There are so many resources that are included in tuition that most students don’t—but should—take advantage of.
