Next Steps for International Students

Here are some helpful next steps for international graduate students.

ACCEPT YOUR ADMISSION OFFER

You can accept or decline your admission by  going to your Student Center in MyMav and clicking on the Accept or Decline hyperlink under the Admissions tab near the bottom of the page.  UT Arlington does not require a financial deposit for those who accept admission.

SUBMIT YOUR FINANCIAL SUPPORT DOCUMENTS

If you have not submitted your financial documents, please submit them promptly. We can create your I-20 only after your valid documents have been received and approved by Graduate Admissions.  Please allow at least 10 business days from the date we receive your documents for processing.  For more information about required financial documents, visit the how-to-guide and refer to the Financial / Immigration Forms section.

EXPLORE HOUSING OPTIONS

UT Arlington does not arrange housing for international students. You will need to make your own living arrangements. Learn more about housing options available to you by calling our Housing Office at 817-272-2791 or visiting them online at www.uta.edu/housing.

Schedule an appointment with your graduate advisor

Your graduate advisor can provide you with more information on your specific program requirements and courses. Find your graduate advisor online.

Attend your department specific orientation

Contact your academic department for more information regarding orientation.

Attend the International Student Orientation (required)

International students (F-1 or J-1 Visa) are required to attend an International Orientation* and submit additional documents before registering for classes.

Book a ride from the airport

Need a ride from the airport? Several forms of transportation from DFW and Love Field Airports to UT Arlington are available at little or no cost to you:

Register for classes

Once open registration begins, you can register for your classes through your MyMav Student Center. Make sure you know your Net ID and password in order to be able to register.

Purchase or rent your textbooks

Review your class schedule in MyMav for a list of your required texts and stop by the UTA bookstore on campus or order your textbooks online at www.uta.edu/bookstore

Create your Mav Express Card (Student ID)

Stop by the Mav Express office in the University Center to get your Mav Express Card made. With this card, you will gain access to the library, the Maverick Activities Center, the Health Center, and students discounts (DFW metroplex).

Order your parking PERMIT

All cars on campus are required to purchase a parking permit. If you plan on bringing your car, make sure you order your parking permit online using MavPark to avoid getting a fine.

Pay tuition on MyMav

Make sure you pay tuition by the payment deadline. If the deadline is not met, enrollment will be cancelled and class seats will be released. For more information, please visit https://www.uta.edu/business-affairs/sfs/payment-info/

Check your immunization status (Meningitis)

Texas Senate Bill 1107 requires all new students or students returning after being out for one spring or fall semester that are under the age of 22 be immunized against bacterial meningitis before they enroll in an institution of higher education.
