Field Expeditions

Caddo Lake Herpetology Club
UTA Herpetology Club members pose for a group photo during the group’s trip to Caddo Lake.

Field expeditions are a tried and true cornerstone of herpetology. Beyond the walls of the laboratory is where herpetologists gather data, specimens, and synthesize ideas. In keeping with this practice, herpetologists affiliated with UTA’s Amphibian and Reptile Diversity Research Center often embark upon sojourns into the field. Herpetologists from UTA visit a number of distant locations around Texas and the United States as well as in countries throughout North, Central and South America, Africa and Asia. Visits to these countries results in the gathering of new information and materials that are useful towards conducting and facilitating herpetological research.
