Dr. Makhmalbaf has more than 6 years of experience conducting research for the U.S. Department of Energy in the area of building technology at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. Her fields of research include high performance building design, performance modeling and simulation, design decision making, and performance assessment of buildings in modernization of the power system. Since joining UTA, she has been teaching graduate courses in the areas of high performance building façade, green and sustainable design, and building information modeling BIM).
Research Interests: Multi-scale performance-based sustainable design, decision theory, building energy and demand management
