City Cohort

City Cohort MPA

The innovative city cohort program mixes daytime classes at city government locations (currently Grand Prairie and Arlington) with online learning.  The 39-hour program (with internship waiver) is tailored to city management and includes an emphasis in economic development and urban management.  Participating cities provide worktime for the onsite classes in UTA’s partnership with local governments.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

City cohort students take one, eight-week class at a time with two in Fall and Spring terms and one in Summer. The last class, 5399 Capstone, is an applied group project and is sixteen weeks (unless Summer term and then eleven-weeks). Classes are Fridays, 3-6 PM onsite at city governments and rotate across participating cities. For example, the first course in a term may be at the City or Grand Prairie and the second at the City of Arlington. Online learning supplements the onsite classes (note: there are no required live online classes). For more general information about the UTA MPA, see our full program overview
