The City and Regional Planning Graduate Program in the College of Architecture, Planning and Public Affairs (CAPPA) at the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Urban Planning to begin in fall 2020.
We seek a colleague with a research focus in one or more of the following areas: environmental planning, urban design & sustainable development, smart & resilient cities. The successful candidate should have a demonstrable research agenda that will contribute to the furtherance of Theme 2 of UTA’s Strategic Plan: Sustainable Urban Communities (https://www.uta.edu/strategicplan/plan/themes/communities.php).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Teach courses in urban design, environmental planning and policy, sustainable land use, metropolitan sustainability, and/or housing policy, as well as graphics and multimedia communication. The preferred candidate is also expected to supervise theses and dissertations in the planning programs and urban design. Service on department, college and university committees is expected as well.Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in planning or a closely related field by May 2020.
Can contribute to multiple emphasis areas and planning certificate programs; AICP certification; and experience in professional planning and community outreach and service
