Sustainability Award

Sustainability Student Award

CAPPA engages the creative and scholarly disciplines through its commitment to provide an outstanding research-driven education. In this spirit, Dean Adrian Parr is excited to announce the inauguration of two annual student awards for the best undergraduate and graduate projects that incorporate the ten principles of sustainability outlined in the American Institute of Architects Sustainability Framework.

Students are tasked with the challenge of holistically and innovatively addressing the following principles in their submission:

  1. Working toward equitable communities
  2. Promoting wellbeing
  3. Protecting ecosystems
  4. Paying attention to energy
  5. Taking care of water
  6. Using materials responsibility
  7. Keeping economics in mind
  8. Learning from the past
  9. Planning for the future
  10. Striving to integrate multiple impacts

There will be one undergraduate student award and one graduate student award each to the value of $1,000. The award will be applied to the student’s Fall 2021 tuition. Therefore, these awards are for students who will be continuing their education at CAPPA in Fall 2021.

Submissions for these awards will occur in Spring 2021. Interested students are encouraged to solicit faculty mentorship in the crafting of their submission. Further details about the submission requirements and deadline will be forthcoming in September 2020.
