Residential Design

Greetings! I am a nearby home owner and alumni of UTA. Although I've contacted several residential architects, the job I have (although important for me) is deemed too small for their consideration, so I'm reaching out for technical assistance, since small spaces are studied by your students.
My home was built in 1950 and currently has 1 bathroom. A large room was added on 20 or 30 years ago that is large enough to accommodate a half bath and kitchenette. The issue with just " hiring a contractor" is that I want more thought and care going in into the layout, since windows will be removed, a new exterior door added and there is a support wall that will need consideration. Windows can be added higher on the north wall to ensure more use able wall space, I envision a Murphy bed ensemble of some sort and use of pocket doors for the bathroom and house to room connection and a functioning kitchenette area. My long term goal is to stay in my home as long as possible. Having this extra room designed for independent access and living will mean I can provide elder care for a family member, as well as provide for an in home caregiver when that need arises. This room can serve as a den or teenager room. I do have funds allocated and I wish to have this work designed and implemented before the end of the year. I hope this avenue of inquiry for technical assistance will prove fruitful.
