Employer Services and Job Promotion
Become a Handshake Partner
Connecting with UTA on Handshake is the first, and most important, step in promoting a job opening or internship on the UTA campus. Handshake is a powerful recruitment tool through which an employer can not only post positions, but can also identify qualified candidates, receive career center communications, and manage on and off-campus recruitment activities. The program also serves as the career center’s means of vetting our employer partners. Once your employer profile is approved your organization may participate in the following recruitment opportunities to drive student traffic to your Handshake posting and grow your student candidate pool. Click here to create a free Handshake account.
Promote Off-Campus Events
If you are a partner employer who is connected with us on Handshake, we can assist with the promotion of off-campus events as long as they focus on recruitment, student education about your organization (such as a webinar), networking, interviewing or hiring. Please note that the employer must first be connected with UTA on Handshake and no events will be accepted which require an up-front cost to the student. If you would like to request that your off-campus event be promoted, please complete this form or contact the Employer Relations Team at 817-272-3267 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Posting a flyer on a job board is a great marketing practice that increases brand awareness, visibility, and engagement. If you are interested in marketing via flyer, please review this example and email a flyer to email@example.com. Please note that the university requires a 2x2 blank-space on the bottom right-hand corner for stamping approval.
Host an Information Table
Information Tables are located in high-traffic areas to maximize exposure to students. This free offering allows employers to pass out information directly to students and engage them in short conversations. Tables are available in multiple locations and assigned based on the employer's targeted student population. To request a table reservation, please click here.
Information Sessions allow employers to meet with groups of students in a less formal setting than an actual interview. Employers have the chance to speak with students/alumni about their organization, their industry, the types of positions they have to offer, what they are looking for in a candidate, and answer questions. To request an Information Session, please click here.
Connect with Student Organizations
The University has over 350 student organizations, and many are related to specific degree programs. Meeting with such groups allows employers to share their knowledge about the industry, present a workshop on a relevant topic, or sponsor an event. Click here to view and search the hundreds of unique organizations at UTA or contact our Employer Relations Team who can contact the student organization on your behalf.
On-Campus interviews are a convenient and efficient way to interview multiple students in just one day. Traditional recruiting cycles are February–April and September–November, but employers may schedule on-campus interviews at any time. Please review this document to learn more about on-campus interview formats.
When you are ready to schedule an on-campus interview date, please follow these steps:
- Log into Handshake.
- Once you are logged in, select “Request An Interview”. Fill in the required fields.
- After submitting your request, your schedule will be reviewed by our Employer Relations Team. If approved, you will receive an email that will include a confirmation form for you to review/sign, along with driving directions and parking instructions. If your schedule is not approved, we will notify you of the reason or follow-up with additional questions.
- Our Employer Relations Team will work closely with you throughout the process to ensure you have a successful visit.
Work-Study is a form of financial aid that allows students to work part-time to earn money during the course of the school year. Off-campus jobs are primarily based on schools, non-profits, and some for-profit businesses. With a Work-Study contract, employers are reimbursed between 50-100% of their student worker’s wages earned by the University of Texas at Arlington. To learn more about the policies and procedures about this program, please see our Employer Policy and Procedures Manual and our Employer FAQs. If you have questions, concerns, or want to learn more about this program, please contact the JLD and Work-Study Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org or at (817)-272-2932.
Employer Office Hours
Employer Office Hours serve as a free opportunity for employers to meet with students and alumni from all majors on a drop-in basis. “Drop-in” are short (typically 10-15 min) sessions in which students can have their resume reviewed, get quick advice about interviews and job search strategies, or ask general questions. We will be hosting this event four times in the Spring 2020 semester. All dates take place on a Monday from 1:00 pm-4:00 pm
One-on-One Mock Interviews
One-on-One Mock Interviews is a free opportunity for employers to conduct 30-minute practice interviews with our students and alumni and provide them with valuable feedback. Mock interviews are organized by the professional sector. Click here to register.
Internship Workshop Employer Panel
Date: TBD, 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Join us on a panel of six employers to discuss best practices, provide an overview of your company's opportunity, and respond to student questions. Panelists are chosen based on industry, area of expertise, and student interest. Click here to express interest.
Prepare for The Fair
An opportunity for employers to meet students and alumni to discuss with them a specific topic relevant to the job fair, such as basic resume tips, how to perfect an elevator pitch, and what to wear to the All Majors Job Fair. Click here to express interest.
The program offers a single day visit to a company site and provides an opportunity for students to experience the employer’s unique workplace culture. In addition to the satisfaction of leaving a lasting impact on the students, the outcomes for your company are equally beneficial. We can invite student populations that meet your hiring needs and in turn create a pool of 25-30 interested and engaged students we will bring to you. It’s an excellent opportunity to recruit interns, part-time staff, and future full-time employees as well as positive branding and educate students about your organization's diverse services. Request more information by completing the Employer Application Form.
