Program Admission Requirements

1. Have passing scores or be exempt from the Texas Success Initiative (TSI) Assessment

To determine your status, login to your MyMav account and look for the TSI link in your Student Center. The TSI Assessment is required by the State of Texas for placement into college-level courses.

2. Must be Core complete

All core coursework must be complete with at least a C or higher.

3. Must have a minimum, overall, ‘true’ GPA of 2.75 or higher

True GPA includes grades earned at both UTA and transfer grades from all other institutions of higher education. If your GPA does not meet the minimum requirement, we may review your last 60 hours GPA for prospective admission

4. Complete required amount of academic coursework

The number of hours of academic content which can be carried into the program varies depending upon the certification level and program. EC-6 and 4-8 students, refer to your degree plan for further information. Secondary and All-Level students, contact an advisor.

5. Submit an Educator Preparation Program (EPP) Admission Application

Your Academic Advisor will confirm that you have met the EPP admission requirements then instruct you on how to submit the EPP Admission Application.

6. Submit the Teacher Certification Application Essays

Once your Academic Advisor has confirmed the you have met the EPP admission requirements, you will also receive instructions on how to submit the Teacher Certification Application Essays.

7. Must receive an official UTA EPP admission offer

You EPP Admission Application and Essays will be reviewed by an EPP Admission Committee to decide upon an admission decision. You will receive a letter from the Certification Office advising you of the admission offer.

8. Must accept the official UTA EPP admission offer

You must accept or decline the official admission offer to finalize your admission status.
