We offer undergraduate degrees through our Curriculum and Instruction Department.
Elementary Education Bilingual and ESL
The Elementary Education Program prepares candidates to become effective teachers in EC-6 classrooms. It also provides elementary school teacher candidates with strategies for providing instruction to students whose native language is not English. This on-campus, four-semester program provides courses on child development, foundations of education, and instructional methods in the core curriculum areas. Coursework is closely linked to field experiences and student teaching in elementary partner school classrooms.
The Middle-Level Education Program candidates choose to receive certification in one of two program tracks: 1) 4-8 English Language Arts and Reading and Social Studies, and 2) 4-8 Math and Science. Middle-Level coursework is closely connected to extensive field experiences and clinical teaching in middle-level partner school classrooms.
Secondary education teacher candidates receive all of their content coursework in their major department. The grades 7-12 or all-level secondary education program provides candidates with coursework in adolescent growth and development, instructional technology, reading and writing in the content areas, classroom organization and management, applications of instruction, and teaching diverse populations. Coursework is closely tied to early field experiences and student teaching in partner school classrooms.
