Dr. Kathleen Tice Awarded National Literacy Grant

Wednesday, August 5, 2015

Dr. Kathleen Tice, Clinical Assistant Professor of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education, has won a 2015 Literacy Grant from the Honor Society of Phi Kapp Phi, the nation's oldest and most prestigious collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines. She is one of only 14 recipients nationwide to receive the award.  The grant will be used to support a service-learning program run by UT-Arlington with Open Door, a Dallas non-profit that serves pre-school aged children who are learning English.  Most of the students are from ethnically diverse and economically challenged families who do not qualify for Head Start and cannot afford pre-school.
