College of Education Graduate Student Living on Island Province Earns Master's Degree

Thursday, December 17, 2015

College of Education graduate student, Amber Harrington, who lives on the island of Papua, Indonesia, will be awarded her Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Mathematics on Saturday.  Ms. Harrington, her husband, and her two year old daughter, have lived on Papua since 2008 where they work with a non-profit Christian organization.  While searching for online master's degrees, Ms. Harrington was directed to The University of Texas at Arlington's College of Education website and found that the online Master of Education courses were affordable, entirely online, and, most of all, rooted in academic excellence.  The biggest challenge that Amber encountered while completing her online degree was the slow internet connection on Papua.  A tenuous connection at best, internet availability was complicated at one point by a shark biting and severing the internet's fiber optic cable to the island!  The College of Education sends its best wishes and congratulations to Amber Harrington!
