UTA’s Hispanic Media Initiative and Telemundo Partner to Deliver New Programming

The Hispanic Media Initiative (HMI) is proud to announce a new media partnership with NBCUniversal Telemundo. HMI’s Spanish-language television newscast, UTA News en Español (#UTANE), will now distribute high-quality Spanish-language television news reports with the Telemundo Station Group via the Telemundo News Service. Every Telemundo station in the nation will receive the content shared by #UTANE and will have the ability to include these TV news reports in their regularly scheduled television newscasts.


HMI’s relationship with the Hispanic media industry continues to give way to exceptional partnerships leading to the continuation of our unique bilingual broadcast journalism program. Our new partnership with NBCUniversal Telemundo will continue to strengthen our students’ portfolios and career prospects by showcasing and recognizing their work and our university in television markets across the United States.

The Hispanic Media Initiative (HMI) is a program in the Department of Communication at The University of Texas at Arlington (UTA) focusing on the advancement of Hispanic media education, journalism, and research. HMI is the response to the successful creation of UTA News en Español in 2010, a Spanish-language television newscast produced by undergraduate students, recognized by the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), the National Academy of Television Arts & Science (NATAS), engaged in unique public-private partnerships, invested in Hispanic media research and publications, and enjoying a healthy 100% graduation rate.
