UTA’s Department of Theatre Arts Presents “Songs for a New World.

The University of Texas at Arlington’s Maverick Theatre Company presents SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD is the first musical from Tony Award winner, Jason Robert Brown (Parade, Bridges of Madison County). This moving collection of powerful songs examines life, love and the choices that we make.


SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD is about one moment. It’s about hitting the wall and having to make a choice or take a stand or turn around and go back. These are the stories and characters of today. Be transported to the deck of a 1492 Spanish sailing ship to a ledge, 57 stories above Fifth Avenue, to meet a startling array of characters that range from a young man who has determined that basketball is his ticket out of the ghetto to a woman whose dream of marrying rich nabs her the man of her dreams… and a soulless marriage. With a powerhouse, driving, and exquisitely crafted score, it runs the gamut of today’s popular music.


SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD features members of UTA’s Maverick Theatre Company including: Josie Cass, Emma Gervesi, Sarah Jo Adams, Emily Denner, Mary Stulsas, Leslie Navarro, Sydney Hamil, Audrey Ham, Tucker Dean, Andre Williams, Levi Richey, Cole Lucas, Brock Huerter, Vincent Witherspoon, Spencer Bovaird, and Jack Snyder.


SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD is directed by Sid Polezcek, musical direction by Vicky Nooe, set design by Ken Ellis, costume design by Margaret Crowley, light and sound design by Jared Land, technical direction by DJ Badon, and stage management by Madeleine Sandoval.
