Faculty at EES department

Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences has 12 faculty members who are successful in their fields and are passionate about teaching. Many faculty members in the department have an active research group working with them. Following are some of the research interests of the faculty:

  • Oceanic and atmospheric dynamics
  • Mapping the exposure topography for susceptible populations to toxic metals
  • Application of trace elements, major elements, and isotopes in studying Earth processes, petrology, and geochemistry of igneous and metamorphic rock
  • Sedimentology
  • Stratigraphy
  • Stable isotope geochemistry
  • Fluid flow and chemical transport in porous and fractured media
  • Development and application of analytical techniques for the chemical and physical characterization of (Earth) materials
  • Biostratigraphy
  • Evolution and distribution of foraminifers of the Ordovician and Silurian
  • Fate and transport modeling of environmental contaminants, environmental epidemiology
  • Biomarkers
  • Measurement of natural strain and its relationship to folds and faults
  • Numerical and physical modeling of geological deformation
  • Paleoclimatology and mass extinctions
  • Reconstruction of the Laurentide and Eurasian ice sheets and marine seismic stratigraphy
