Office of the President

December 4, 2017

Dear Members of the UTA Community:

I am pleased to announce that Ms. Lisa Nagy, Interim Vice President for Student Affairs at UTA, has accepted our offer to serve as Vice President for Student Affairs. Ms. Nagy was selected after an extensive national search that attracted a deep pool of accomplished student affairs leaders and administrators. The full announcement of her appointment can be found at uta.edu/news.

Ms. Nagy has already served UTA with distinction in a series of positions of increasing responsibility since joining the University in 1999 as assistant director of marketing and public relations for campus recreation. In her role as the interim vice president since early spring of 2017, she has moved the Division of Student Affairs and the University forward tremendously both in setting and achieving strategic goals and in adding to the growing sense of pride and tradition on the UTA campus.

She has led significant efforts on campus aimed at enhancing the student experience, enabling a more holistic set of support services, and strengthening engagement to develop a greater sense of belonging and significantly higher levels of student success. She was responsible for the formation and launch of the Community That Cares task force and subsequent campaign to strengthen a culture of caring and support for students on the UTA campus, as well as the creation of the Emergency Assistance Fund, which helps students in crisis with urgent financial needs. She has been a strong driver behind the establishment of the Maverick Advantage program, focusing on five distinguishing activities for all UTA undergraduates aimed at ensuring they receive a transformative educational experience.

She is an experienced leader, innovator, and champion of student success. I am confident that under her leadership we will continue on our spectacular trajectory toward being the model 21st-Century Urban Research University. Please join me in congratulating Ms. Nagy and thanking her for being willing to serve UTA and our students in this capacity.

Regards,
Vistasp M. Karbhari
President
