Office of the President - The University of Texas at Arlington

March 28, 2018

Dear UTA Faculty and Staff:

I’m pleased to announce that Dr. Deborah “Dee” Robinson, Vice President for Development at the University of Cincinnati Foundation, has accepted our offer to serve as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement. The newly created position at UTA merges the previously separate functions of communications and development and alumni relations into an integrated unit that will focus on furthering public understanding, recognition, and positioning of UTA and its important mission as a leading public research university, and on the development of financial and resource support for the institution. The integration of efforts will better enable a range of activities that further build strong support and lasting relationships with a variety of constituencies, including students, alumni, community members, donors, the media, parents, and friends. In addition, this integration of key external functions will enable us to respond to your units' needs in a more timely, comprehensive, and strategically planned approach.

An exemplary fundraiser and advancement professional, Dr. Robinson brings over 20 years of leadership and management experience through previous positions as Vice President for University Advancement and related development work at major universities including the University of Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic University, and Dartmouth Medical School. She most recently served as the Vice President for the University of Cincinnati Foundation, where she led and managed the comprehensive campaign priority planning process and fundraising that resulted in surpassing the $1.2 B mark in December 2017. She brings tremendous experience to UTA, and I have no doubt that she will bring new vision and vitality to positioning and advancing our mission as the model 21st-Century Urban Research University.

Dr. Robinson will be joining UTA on April 30, 2018, and will be working in close collaboration with Jeff Jeter (jeter@uta.edu) and Rose Youngblood (rose.youngblood@uta.edu) in the interim. I am extremely appreciative of their willingness to not only step up in the interim to enable continued forward momentum as interim leads of communications and development, respectively, but to also initiate the integration of these facets of the University.

Regards,

Vistasp M. Karbhari
President of UTA
