Office of the President, UTA

November 24, 2020

Dear Fellow Mavericks,

Like many of you, the Thanksgiving holiday gives me pause to reflect on everything for which I am very thankful. As I have shared before, this year has been undeniably very challenging for all of us, on a personal as well as professional level. However, from those challenges, I believe together, we have realized many successes of which we should be proud and celebrating.

During this past year, I have had the special privilege of working alongside fellow UTA faculty and staff — and have witnessed first-hand your dedication and commitment to our students and UTA. At every turn, you put our students first. For your tireless effort to support our students through the education of their minds and hearts, and to advance UTA’s teaching and research mission, I am most grateful.

Similarly, this past year I have had the opportunity to speak with and meet many of our students — to learn about your ambitions, what you are learning and researching, how you engage your fellow students, how you selflessly serve our community, and how you have demonstrated persistence and resiliency in the face of historical challenges. I am thankful for your vision, enthusiasm and desire to make a positive impact in all circumstances. You remind me every day why higher education can be such a fulfilling career path for me and so many.

During this holiday, I hope that each of you have the chance to be with your friends and family — in person or virtually — and that you are also fortunate to have your own thankful occasions upon which to reflect.

Please stay healthy and safe in your travels or time at home. I look forward to a strong finish to the fall semester and a smooth transition to spring semester next year.

Happy Thanksgiving and Go Mavs!

Sincerely,

Teik C. Lim
Interim President
