On Sunday, alumni and friends gathered in Fort Worth to celebrate all things UTA before enjoying the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Michael Nelson (center), assistant professor of kinesiology, leads a team of researchers that was awarded an NIH grant to build imaging technology to help doctors diagnose heart failure more quickly and lead to life-saving treatment. The team also includes Fenghua Tian (left), research associate in the Department of Bioengineering, and Mark Haykowsky, the Moritz Chair in Geriatrics.

Defending National Champs
UTA Alumni Relations

UTA's Esports team looks to defend its title at the 2018 Heroes of the Dorm National Championship tournament. The team went 29-0 during last year's three-week long tournament and defeated LSU in the finals to take home the top prize of free tuition for each member of the team. Regional play for the 2018 tournament begins on February 6.

CAAS Night at the Jubilee
UTA Alumni Relations

Join us for a night of drama and fun with the Center for African American Studies. Purchase your tickets to see Detroit '67 at the Jubilee Theatre on February 1. All proceeds benefit the Center. GET YOUR TICKETS

Paving the Way

D Magazine praised UTA's Institute of Urban Studies as a leader in tackling North Texas' toughest questions about area transit. The Institute, led by Shima Hamidi, is helping local officials plan for population growth in the DFW metroplex. READ MORE

Rankin Society at UTA Basketball | UTA Legacy Leaders are invited to join the Edward E. Rankin Legacy Society at the men's and women's basketball games. The women's team tips off at 2 PM and the men's game starts at 4:15 PM. REGISTER TODAY

February 6 | Tuesday

Fort Worth Alumni Chapter | Come join us at Joe T. Garcia's for the first Fort Worth Alumni Chapter meeting of 2018. President Vistasp Karbhari will provide an update on UTA's progress as a top-tier university as you network with your fellow Fort Worth Mavericks. Lunch begins at 12 PM. REGISTER TODAY

February 9 | Friday

Festival of Ideas | Free and open to the public, this year's Festival of Ideas features alumna Payton Iheme ('03), Facebook's U.S. public policy manager, as a guest speaker. The event will run from 8 AM to 1 PM. LEARN MORE

February 16 | Friday

Opening Day | Alumni get two free tickets to the home opener of the 2018 UTA Baseball season with their alumni membership card. Come out to Alan Saxe Field and root for the home team as your Mavericks start the journey toward a Sun Belt Conference championship. GET YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD
