A New Chapter for Fort Worth Alumni
FTW Alumni Chapter

UTA alumni living in Fort Worth now have a new way to network with fellow Mavericks in their hometown. The UTA Fort Worth Alumni Chapter held a kick-off luncheon on Tuesday. The chapter plans to meet quarterly to discuss activities and receive updates on the University's progress. UTA Partners with AISD
UTA Partners with AISD

UTA and the Arlington Independent School District have created a partnership to provide a seamless transition to a four-year university degree for traditionally underserved high school students currently enrolled at Arlington Collegiate High School. Through the newly instituted ACHS Lion Scholars program, students who are within six hours of completing their associate’s degree can also begin taking classes toward a bachelor’s degree at UTA. Major League Maverick

Former UTA Maverick Dillon Gee made his first start for the Texas Rangers at Globe Life Park on Tuesday. After several appearances in relief for the Rangers and a successful start to the season with the Triple A Round Rock Express, Gee got his golden opportunity to shine at the Major League Level. He helped the Rangers to a 10-8 win over the New York Mets, his former team. READ MORE

Weidong Zhou, a professor in the Electrical Engineering Department, is the primary investigator in a five-year $3 million Multidisciplinary Research Initiatives grant from the High Energy Laser Joint Technology Office to develop a high-power semiconductor laser that is compact, efficient, and power-scalable. D.J. Seo, the Robert S. Gooch Endowed Professor of Water Resources Engineering and a civil engineering professor at UTA, designed iSeeFlood in 2016 that is now available for iPhones. The app enlists the help of everyday people to identify flooding. READ MORE

Sustainable Urban Communities

Melanie Sattler, a UTA associate professor of civil engineering, is leading a three-year project approved by the Arlington City Council to measure hydrogen sulfide and multiple other parameters that influence manhole corrosion. READ MORE
