Space tourist Anousheh Ansari at Texas Hall on Tuesday

Tickets are still available to see space tourist, innovator, and entrepreneur Anousheh Ansari at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3, in Texas Hall for the next Maverick Speakers Series event. Ansari will discuss her journey to the International Space Station and her success as a telecommunications CEO and business leader. A book signing will follow her talk. LEARN MORE.


Volunteer for Parent and Family Weekend

The Parent and Family Center is looking for volunteers to assist with the 2017 Parent and Family Weekend Friday-Saturday, Oct. 20-21. The event gives students, parents, and family members the chance to experience a weekend filled with fun, interactive activities everyone will enjoy. Volunteer online.


Vote in Sustainability Leadership Awards

Two UTA representatives are nominated in the nonprofit professional category of the Green Source DFW Sustainable Leadership Awards. Meghna Tare is executive director of the Institute for Sustainability and Global Impact and has launched numerous projects, including the recent bike share program. Brad McCorkle (MA '99) is a lecturer in the College of Architecture, Planning, and Public Affairs who provided leadership on the tiny house project. Vote online. There are 140 charities directly assisting hurricane relief efforts included in the 2017 State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC). View this year’s charity guide, type hurricane relief in the search box, then enter the organization code in the online giving portal.

Visit the information table in front of Ransom Hall 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, to learn more about the 2017 State Employee Charitable Campaign. This year’s campaign concludes Oct. 31.
