Claim your tickets to see Roland Fryer—award-winning Harvard economist, education activist, and 1998 UTA graduate—at the Maverick Speakers Series event at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at Texas Hall. Dr. Fryer will discuss Solutions to Fixing Education in America: No More Excuses. An autograph signing will follow his talk. Tickets are required. Faculty, staff, and students can claim two free tickets or purchase the VIP or preferred seating packages at uta.edu/maverickspeakers.


Leadership Academy deadline extended

Web publishing tools SSH, FTP no longer available

Secure Shell (SSH) and SSH Secure File Transfer (FTP) will no longer be available starting Friday, Oct. 27. Faculty, staff, and students with a Windows operating system should use PuTTY and FileZilla to access web publishing on students.uta.edu sites and Omega, Gamma, and SQL servers. Mac users will continue to use the built-in software, Terminals, for FTP processes. For more information, review these articles: How to use PuTTY to connect to Omega and Gamma servers and How to download and connect FileZilla to Omega Server. Financial planning seminar Nov. 3

"Envision Your Financial Future" is the next topic in the Financial Seminar Series hosted by the Office of Human Resources. The program focuses on establishing a retirement income goal and making adjustments to savings and investing strategies as needed. Small changes in the short term can make a big difference in the long term. Register online to attend 9-11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, in Room 228 of the Engineering Research Building. Breakfast is included.
