Faculty, staff recognized for outstanding service

  honors

Several faculty and staff members recently received honors for their endeavors.

The election of Dereje Agonafer, left, to the National Academy of Inventors brings the number of NAI Fellows at UTA to 12. This marks the highest number of NAI Fellows at any Texas university. Dr. Agonafer is the Jenkins Garrett Professor in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department.

Maria Martinez-Cosio, center, associate vice provost for faculty development, was one of just four North Texas women honored by Ford Motor Company with a Mujeres Legendarias Award.

Meghna Tare, right, has been selected to serve on the board of directors for the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education. Tare is the executive director of UTA's Institute for Sustainability and Global Impact.

The UTA Police Department was one of only five university police departments in the nation recognized for its National Night Out efforts in 2017. This marks the fifth consecutive year UTAPD has been honored.
