UTA Engineering Ambassadors

Student Ambassadors educate middle school, high school, and community college students on engineering fields, engineering programs at UTA, and the importance of math and science.  This group of engineering majors shares the students’ perspective of the University and the College.

What do Engineering Student Ambassadors Do?

  • Provide information to prospective students about the College of Engineering via social media, email, phone calls, letters, postcards, etc.
  • Meet one-on-one with future students and parents
  • Represent the College of Engineering at college and career fairs, transfer fairs, school visits, New Maverick orientation, Maverick Experience, and more
  • Participate in STEM-focused events at area schools
  • Lead tours of the College
  • Participate on student panels
  • Represent the College at community, industry and university and alumni functions

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering excites me because it gives any of its students a systematic approaching to viewing things. Engineering has consistently birthed amazing technical solutions to making life easier and continues to evolve into a richer field of study.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? My best part about the College of Engineering is the amount of knowledge being poured into students by faculty members. I have several professors who not only inspire me with the depth of their study, but they also motivate me through the high standards they raise with excellent delivery during their lectures (which obviously takes years of practice and rich understanding).

What is your ideal job after graduation? My ideal job continues to change as I pass through the College of Engineering and this is simply beautiful thanks to some amazing professors. A few semesters ago, I would have simply said working on the efficiency of car engines to reduce energy losses and make the whole vehicle more efficient. But! Who knew that engineers also have a rich understanding of pipelines- be it for an oil rig, or the fire hydrants in a six story building. I could go on, but as of now, I am falling in love with modelling and simulation within computational fluid dynamics.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create?  Going off of my previous statement, I am left to see where my knowledge takes me. In my new double major pursuit (aerospace being the add-on), I can definitely see myself building solutions to improve vehicle mobility, both grounded and ungrounded.

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering promotes creativity in areas you wouldn't initially think cared for an active imagination. Once you start looking into some of the research going on in engineering, you begin to realize how creative and insanely intelligent the people who came up with the idea must be. The field takes problem solving to the next level.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? I like how hands-on UTA CoE is with their teaching style. Students are constantly encouraged to join their professor's research or join one of the engineering clubs. We have so much research going on with professors and students, which allows the students to get a taste of what their career in engineering might look like.

What is your ideal job after graduation? I want to go into genetic engineering or rehabilitation engineering. Most of all, I want to help the medical industry in any way I can. I love the idea of biomedical engineering doing a lot of the 'behind the scenes' work in the medical industry.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? I would like to create better arm or leg prosthesis. Right now, many prosthesis don't allow amputees to engage in all the activities they wish to be involved in. I especially would like to improve pediatric prosthesis.

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering, specially software engineering, excited me because programming, for me, is like playing videos games, and I enjoy that.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? I like UTA because it's a very diverse campus and you get to know different personalities and cultures, which I think is a plus because in the future we will be working with people from different background.

What is your ideal job after graduation? After graduation I would like to work for a company to help businesses improve their software and add new feature to them or work for a video game company like Konami.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? As a software engineer I will create videos games like “Metal Gear” that both entertain and help you develop your logic

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering is not only a technical and creative process, it is also a way of life. Knowing that my actions and manifestation of solutions to problems may help a life is a fulfilling way to live.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? The amount of resources on this campus is truly insurmountable. Everyone, both students and professors, are very supportive in helping each other reach their goals.

What is your ideal job after graduation? I'm not entirely too sure right now, however, I would at some point like to establish a tech company that manufactures quantum computers.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? There are numerous amounts of breakthroughs I would like to see occur in our time, however, to choose one. I would say the ability to digitize human memory and sensory perception would be a delight to create.

Why does engineering excite you? Engineers are the problem solvers of the world. I feel that the degree that I am working towards will give me the tools I need in order to make a change in the world.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? The COE provides many research opportunities to its’ students, and I think this help us better prepare for the challenges we will face once we are out working in the real world.

What is your ideal job after graduation? I hope to go to medical school to attain my MD/Ph.D. From there I hope to work as a cardiologist and research cardiac pacemakers.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? I would like to design a cardiac pacemaker that measures ejection fraction because it would help lead to better outcomes for patients with CHF and other cardiac diseases.

Why does engineering excite you? What is there not to be excited about? Engineers are the ones that propel the world into the future, the ones that pave civilization into the next era. To play a part in this human evolution, no matter how small or large, is an exciting concept.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? The greatest thing about UTA CoE from my perspective is the fact that it is an exponentially growing tier 1 research school located at the center of one of the largest growing economic hub in the nation at an affordable price.

What is your ideal job after graduation? I have always been fascinated by the automotive and aerospace industry. My ideal job would be working in continuous/process improvement in a well-established company offering mentorship and professional growth.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? I would like to innovate wherever possible through the use of process improvement. My goal would be to increase the efficiency of a given process, whether it be assembling an airplane or reducing time wasted in a hospital, by "thinking outside the box".

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering excites me because it gives me the skills to tackle real world problems with solutions that work, and in that way enables me to help others.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? My favorite thing about the College of Engineering is the amount of world class researchers, scientists, and engineers that it allows me to meet and talk to. It is very cool to have a class taught by someone held in high regard in their field because you know you're learning from the best.

What is your ideal job after graduation? My ideal job is to work with something that ends up in space.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? I would like to create something that enables people in more remote places that may lack certain amenities to have a quality of life similar to what we enjoy in the United States.

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering is exciting to me because I like solving problems, and helping people. By being an engineer, I get to do both.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? I like how diverse the College of Engineering is. There are people from all over the world and from all walks of life that I can talk to and learn from.

What is your ideal job after graduation? After graduation, I hope to get an entry level job at a civil engineering firm, and slowly work my way up to higher level positions.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? I would like to design methods and materials for roads or buildings that are cheaper and more energy efficient, such as mixing waste plastic into asphalt for roads or using natural light in buildings.

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering excites me because it allows us to take concepts we've learned in class and apply it to the real world to make our creative ideas come true. There are unlimited possibilities with engineering!

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? What I like most about UTA's COE is that help can be found everywhere! There are many resources that are provided for students to take advantage of such as the Physics Clinic. .

What is your ideal job after graduation? After graduation, I hope to work as a cybersecurity analyst.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? I would like to contribute towards security research and find a solution that can get applications in the mobile platform to check themselves against cyber-risks 100% successfully.

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering excites me because it is a diverse field that provides plenty of outlets for creation. A lot of what engineers do involves research on projects that will ultimately make the world better and improve the quality of life. I love creating things! 

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? I like the UTA College of Engineering because of the ethnic diversity throughout the college. I also like that the College embraces that through the hall of Flags in Nedderman Hall. There are also plenty of opportunities for undergraduate research.

What is your ideal job after graduation? As a biomedical engineer, I would like to work in cancer research with individuals who are as passionate as I am.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? I would like to find the cure to cancer! Also, I would like to improve methods for early detection.

Why does engineering excite you? Engineering is a field for any individual to dive into the one thing they are most passionate about that also furthers the understanding of the world around them. I am passionate about learning and bettering myself for the improvement of the community and I believe engineering is my ideal method of contributing to others while allowing myself to grow.

What do you like most about UTA College of Engineering? I love the opportunity to volunteer and work in labs with my instructor as well as the sense of community spent studying with my peers. The hand on learning experience of labs is something I can carry into any field and expand my knowledge.

What is your ideal job after graduation? My ideal job is somewhere I can directly communicate with the people I impact and to work alongside hard working individuals.

What engineering innovation/breakthrough would you like to create? One innovation I'm passionate about is bringing medical care by efficiently providing the necessary tools to rural areas; another is to help improve the education of the human body using simulated and reusable training tools for medical education.
