Barbara Hyman has 40 years of experience in public relations and the media, beginning as the founding editor of Hospital Peer Review. She then joined the Peachtree Center in Atlanta, ultimately being named director of communications for this six-tower, retail and office complex. In 1980, she moved to Hopkins & Associates, which has created major communications programs for clients such as American Express, McDonald's, Gillette, MDBuyline and PepsiCo.
In 2009, Ms. Hyman and two other long-time employees acquired the firm from its founder. As chief operating officer, she is actively involved in the management and creative aspects of agency programs, and in special client projects.
Active in professional, civic and cultural affairs, Ms. Hyman is a graduate of the Leadership Dallas program of the Dallas Chamber of Commerce. She is a past president of the Dallas Chapter of Women in Communications and the Dallas Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, Barbara is an accredited member of PRSA and has been inducted to the society’s College of Fellows.
Barbara is an avid cook who has won awards for her jams and jellies at the State Fair of Texas. She completed an associate degree in culinary arts, which enabled her to add CC (Certified Culinarian) after her name.
